This 6.2 mile course runs on a section of the Santa Monica Mountains Backbone Trail system at Trippet Ranch in Topanga. Many of these kids had never been in our mountains.

AUGUST, 2017 – Ongoing: The SMMSTA will guide a youth group and counselors from the Santa Monica Police Activities League on the first annual Backbone Trail Challenge.

The trail, 67.79 miles, begins at Will Rodgers Historic Park in Pacific Palisades and runs to the ocean at Point Mugu State Park in Ventura County.

The course will be divided into eight sections, each to be hiked on separate days and nights over the course of several weeks.
